During this weekend course, participants will paint a live model from observation using oil paints. The course is taught by visual artist and Master of Fine Arts Aki Turunen.

Teaching language: Finnish, but guidance is also available in English.

Course Description

Participants will study observational oil painting using a live model and the surrounding space as subjects. The course focuses on developing observation skills, the fundamentals of working from observation, colour mixing, and the use of painting mediums.

As a teacher, I encourage students to embrace their own personal mark-making and artistic expression, while introducing new perspectives and techniques throughout the process. Joy and enjoyment in making art are considered essential.

(At least one painting will be completed during the course. Participants may also bring a second or third canvas or painting surface if they wish.)

Equipment

Basic materials and refreshments are included in the course fee, but participants are also welcome to bring their own materials. Bringing your own brushes is recommended.  Please bring your own glass jars. The course is suitable for all levels, from beginners to more experienced painters.
